Burger Bar at Mandalay Shoppes has 25 Beers On-Tap
Continuing on in my exploration of places on the Las Vegas Strip that have a lot of on-tap beer options during my trip to Las Vegas last month (cf.), I visited Burger Bar, which is located at Mandalay Shoppes.
Burger Bar has 25 beers on-tap and offer almost all of them in not only pints and pitchers, but you can also “choose 6 draft beers to enjoy in 6oz Sampler glasses. Prices vary with beer selections.” Wanting to try a bunch of different beers, I opted for the sampler paddle, rather than ordering pints.
Naturally, I ordered their IPAs. I ended up with a couple of IPAs and room left for a few more. I started off with Chimay White Label, which was very pleasant – I especially enjoyed the yeast. My next was Magic Hat #9, which I found too malty for my tastes, so I didn’t even drink half of it. My next one was Dirty Dog IPA, which was decent, although it had quite a bit of body on it. I followed that up with Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, which was nice and pleasant. Following that, I had the Humboldt Brewing 500 BC Double IPA, which was nicely hopped, although more noticeable was its big body which was pleasantly fruity. I then moved on to MOA Imperial Stout – I’m sure it’s a good beer, but my palate was not down for it, so I had two sips and stopped.
But, because the waitress felt bad that they didn’t offer the Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA on the sampler paddle (which is only available there in 9oz servings), she graciously furnished me with a small amount of it (maybe 2oz). Wow! At 18% ABV and 120 IBUs, it is a special beer! Wow – for once with beer, I can really detect the alcohol! It’s got a nice carbonation to it, as well. Wow.
Burger Bar has a nice selection of options for on-tap beers in that part of the Strip 🙂
