New Sites Springing Forth From Matters of Interest

Two new sites will be blossoming forth from Matters of Interest
Having written yesterday that Matters of Interest is entering a third phase, one of the new aspects of coming back is also spinning off new websites for certain content. When I began this site, it served as a place for me to share thoughts, views, and write about a variety of topics. Inasmuch as I will continue to be doing so, there is a significant chunk that will be spun off.
That huge content area is that of my Jewish writing. Whether it is about rabbinic literature, Jewish websites, Jewish organizations, or anything else, Jewish, they will be finding new homes. The primary reason is one of audiences. When I started up the writing of this site, it was largely about writing about what I wanted to do. However, as I realized with creating a separate website for my Star Wars writings, it helps to understand in what one’s audience is interested. Since those looking for Jewish content may not be interested in the other content I publish here and vice versa, I will be dividing the content.

More than half of Matters of Interest posts have been either about beer or Jewish topics
To that end, I will be spinning off my Jewish content to new websites. The main website that will be launching will be Jewish Interest, maintaining a linguistic connection to Matters of Interest. The other website that will be launching will be specifically about rabbinic literature, primarily because it demands its own site, as those interested in general Jewish matters may not be as interested in rabbinic literature. That website is Talmudist, the name of which is styled after websites such as Nerdist and Gothamist, and is much simpler to say than “Rabbinic Literaturist”, since “Talmud” often serves as an all-encompassing term for all of rabbinic literature and not simply the Babylonian Talmud. It is also, noticeably, a content area about which I have written frequently, as it was more than a 1/3 of my Jewish posts.
With the departure of these content areas, then what’s left, since the Jewish topic area was the largest, with 30%. Furthermore, since another 23.5% of the content had been beer-related, and I write elsewhere about beer, that means most of the content areas have departed(!). It should be an interesting new phase, covering events, local and otherwise, website-related matters, and more. The tone, though, should remain familiar during this new phase.
