WhedonCon 2017 to Celebrate the Whedonverse This Month in LA
Whether Buffy, Firefly, or Fringe, are you looking for a place to celebrate everything in the Whedonverse? Get excited, because the second annual WhedonCon is back this month in LA! WhedonCon 2017, the three-day convention run by fans for fans celebrating the works of Joss Whedon and the talented people of the Whedonverse takes place in a couple of weeks.
WhedonCon 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the 15th anniversary of Firefly. This event is organized by the same team which hosts the Buffy Musical in San Diego Comic Con and the Dr. Horrible Sing-Alongs at WonderCon and on Halloween in Los Angeles. This year, in memory of Ron Glass (Firefly, Serenity, Barney Miller), Fandom Charities will be raising funds for the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, a youth center that was dear to his heart.
The second annual WhedonCon, which will be taking place May 19-21 at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills, CA, will feature many of those who have been in the Whedonverse, including Guest of Honor Emmy Award-winning Writer/Producer David Fury (Buffy, Angel, Lost, 24, Fringe), Marvel’s Daredevil TV series season 1 and Dark Horse Comics’ Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel & Faith writer Christos Gage, Emmy-nominated Producer/Showrunner, Writer and Director Tim Minear (Dollhouse, Angel, Firefly, American Horror Story), Buffy’s Nicholas Brendon, Miracle Laurie (Dollhouse), Harry Groener (Buffy), James Leary (Buffy), Camden Toy (Buffy, Angel), Andrew Ferchland (Buffy), actor and stuntman Damion Poitier (Angel, Dollhouse, Firefly), Armin Shimerman (Buffy), Farscape’s Gigi Edgley, Jeff Pruitt, Sophia Crawford, Damion Poitier and Steve Tartalia. The list keeps growing and growing!
WhedonCon 2017 will feature panels, workshops, live demos and much more. The schedule is available online and fans are encouraged to check in regularly.
