Opportunities to Win Cash at This Weekend’s TheFitExpo
At this upcoming weekend’s TheFitExpo Los Angeles, amongst the dozens of activities, events, and competitions (there really will be an incredible amount of things going on(!)), including even the possibilities of winning cash. Yes, cash. One set of opportunities to win cash will be a competition to see who can get the most repetitions of particular exercises and the other will be a competition to see who has the best-looking particular body parts. Behind these competitions is an energetic and entertaining former competitive bodybuilder.
To see who can get the most repetitions in, the MaxReps 4 Ca$h competition will be starting with men’s bicep curl competition and men’s dips competition on Saturday, followed by the women’s push-up competition, women’s pull-up competition, men’s pull-up competition, and men’s push-up competition on Sunday. The winners of each of the six competitions receive $300 cash. This is the first time ever that there will be women’s competitions for MaxReps 4 Ca$h! Additionally, they will be crowning an overall male MaxReps 4 Ca$h champion. In order to compete for the overall title, the male athlete must participate in all four events (bicep curls, dips, pull-ups and push-ups) held throughout the weekend. The male athlete with the most cumulative reps from all four events will be crowned Champion and awarded $300 in cash. (For further details on the rules, see here.)
There will also be an opportunity to show off the hard work that people have put into their bodies. Male attendees 18 and older, can compete in 4 different events during the weekend (arms, legs, abs and back), and females 18 and older can compete in 4 events (arms, legs, glutes and abs). Competitors will be judged on a two category 1-10 point system of definition and overall appearance. Male contestants are required to wear shorts, and females bikini top and bottoms, shoes are optional. Each event will crown its own winner live on stage with a $300 GNC gift card. (For further details, see here.)

Roland Kickinger with MaxReps 4 Ca$h winners at TheFitExpo Anaheim
With people showing off their bodies and what they can do with them, it could potentially be boring for spectators. However, this is where Roland Kickinger comes in. Kickinger, who runs Sexy Nutrition, was a competitive body builder for years and has also acted in television shows and movies, brings an entertaining edge to his MC’ing of the aforementioned competitions at TheFitExpo. “It’s not just an event where people sweat and struggle – we need to have fun and have entertainment for the crowds,” said Kickinger. “I like to make it fun, entertaining and competitive and to involve people.”
He says it’s a great event, since “people can show off their body and it’s a place you can actually make some money,” as well as taking place in a competitive environment. “It’s really good because it makes everyone participate and people can show off their hard work on stage.” He says his job is to entertain and for the participants to have a good time, even to take selfies and share them on social media – he wants to encourage that, because it’s a good thing.
Kickinger said he started it 13 years ago after Jane Haber asked if he was available to be involved with it. He said it’s got a good following, especially since it’s “a nice, positive event.” As TheFitExpo has grown, these competitions take place in five different locations, where TheFitExpo takes place: Anaheim, San Jose, Chicago, and the newest location, Ft. Lauderdale, in addition to the Los Angeles TheFitExpo.
For the judging of the body parts, Kickinger has a panel of judges keeping score “to make sure everything is legit.” This particular competition is about “strength and beauty,” says Kickinger. “People like it – they like to win and they like to win actual money,” not to mention “getting in a magazine and winning a trophy.”
The competition is sponsored by sponsors, including his company, and is financially self-sustainable. Moreover, pointed out Kickinger, is that it is actually growing. It is also “indirectly making money because more people are coming to it.” This competition seems to be doing quite well for itself.
The competitions take place this Saturday 12-6 and Sunday 12-5. Contestants can sign up by going to the MaxReps 4 Ca$h booth.
