Another Visit to La Gondola [Food Friday]
Earlier this week, my wife and I dined at La Gondola and we greatly enjoyed our food and experience. Despite having also gone last month there, I was looking to try some different offerings of theirs.
Although I started off the same way as I had last visit, with the complimentary bread (and butter substitute), as well as a jalapeño margarita, I then went in new directions with both my choice in appetizer and entree.
For my appetizer, I went with the Beef Tinga Roll. Wow! This is incredible! Although their Candy “Bacon” is really good (my wife ordered this appetizer this visit, since it was really delicious on our last visit), the Beef Tinga Roll is something very yummy. I can describe it as pulled beef inside of an “eggroll” – the warm, lovely softness of the beef inside is so nicely accentuated by the softly crunchy outside. It’s tasty and yummy on its own, but adding the sauce helps: it is slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and wonderfully creamy. I delightfully recommend this appetizer.
For my entree, I went with the Jumbalaya Pasta. I remember ordering this dish years ago when we first visited La Gondola, so I was excited to try it again and it didn’t disappoint. It has pasta with chicken strips, sausage, onions, red peppers, green peppers, mushrooms, and it was very tasty, with a bit of spiciness to it, which was enjoyable. The softness of the pasta was texturely accented by the crunchiness of the onions and the peppers. This was very tasting and very filling, with a pleasant balance of protein and carbohydrates. Having had an appetizer and some bread, I could not finish this dish entirely, so you really could fill up on this dish alone.
Since we were so full, we elected to not have dessert, although, hopefully, we shall have some on a future visit.
