Open Fridays and Adding Tasters, Beachwood Blendery’s Tasting Room Becoming More Accessible

Beachwood Blendery is now open on Fridays
Adding another day to the weekend is one way Long Beach’s newest brewery is making their beers more accessible. Another way is adding taster options.
Having opened up for weekend service a half-year ago, Beachwood Blendery has now added Fridays. Open 2pm-10pm on Saturdays and 1pm-7pm on Sundays, the option of partaking in the suds at The Blendery was limited to those two days. Six weeks ago, they added Friday evenings to the open hours, which was enabled by having more beer available.
“Now we have enough beer to warrant it,” said Ryan Fields, the head brewer at Beachwood Blendery. Since originally being open 2pm-9pm on Saturdays and 12pm-6pm on Sundays, this allows for more hours, as they have added the five Friday hours and an additional hour on Saturday.

Tasters are now offered at Beachwood Blendery
Another change recently made at Beachwood Blendery is the addition of taster options. When I visited during the opening weekend, I was baffled as to the absence of this staple of a common option at breweries. However, as of last weekend, Beachwood Blendery now offers 1oz tasters, in addition to its beers being served in bigger glassware. Although the tasters are small, they are priced at a reasonable $1, allowing customers to try the beers before getting a bigger glass of the same beer or purchasing bottles of the beer.
“The $1 price point is really manageable,” said Jeremy Rodriguez, the tasting room docent at Beachwood Blendery. “I felt the tasters would double bottle sales, since it helps customers decide” on buying bottles. A caveat, though, is that, at this time, they are limiting two tasters per customer, since they don’t want customers to go crazy with the tasters. Nevertheless, the addition of tasters are still an exciting move.
These changes are just some of the great moves being made at Beachwood Blendery.
